What is a pre-emergent herbicide?

• A pre-emergent herbicide is designed to keep seeds from germinating or sprouting. 
• Pre-emergent herbicides rely on timing of application to work correctly ex. for summer weeds, apply in early spring, for winter weeds, apply in early fall. 
• Different pre-emergent herbicides have different residual effects. Different residual effects determine when or if you need to re-apply.
